Gulf County Florida Beauty, Kids Outdoor Play Time and a Giveaway!
Who's dreaming about a Florida Vacation?! ME!!! I would love to stick my toes in a white sand beach with the sun rays beaming down on my face as I hear the sound of waves with my eyes closed. I can almost smell the beach front right now. Oh wait, maybe I am thinking of the smell of sunscreen. Either way, they both sound good, don't they?!
Have you though about your vacation plans yet? Does Florida make the list? Florida is always in my top 10 vacation ideas every year. I'm all about traveling to some sort of beach front. Sometimes just walking on the beach barefoot with your toes in the sand is stress relieving in itself and worth the travel. I've always liked kayaks and maybe want to try stand-up paddleboards or maybe even some snorkeling too! Sometimes it's hard to decide where to go if you've never been and especially if you don't have insider information to know whether it's worth it or not.
How about your kids? Do your kids have vacation ideas? How do they feel about the outdoors? In today's world of technology I often find it a chore to get my kids to go outside to play! I make them unplug and enjoy the true beauty the outdoors has to offer. Most of the time it's a struggle to make them play outside but after they find their friends, they have a blast and then they are complaining that they want to stay outside longer. One thing we all agree on is the beauty of Florida though!
Here's a little information about Gulf County:
Located in Northwest Florida, Gulf County boasts 43 miles of natural shoreline. Here, where water surrounds us, we don’t have high-rises or busy highways and never will. We have white-sand beaches facing westward into spectacular sunsets – on the Gulf of Mexico and St. Joseph Bay. We have beckoning bayous, unexpected wildlife encounters and the mysterious Dead Lakes. We’ve got seaside bike trails, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and snorkeling. We have genuine places, like the historic Indian Pass Raw Bar and flavors like Tupelo Honey.
Other fun, kind of quirky facts:
-With two time zones, only two stoplights and spotty Wi-Fi, our beautiful beaches truly let you unplug and connect with the most important thing – your family. But, don't take our word for it, check out this at-a-glance Pinterest board with loads of local and loyalist recommendations: http://www.pinterest.com/gulfc…
-The authentic and legendary Tupelo Honey is farmed in Gulf County. The harvest begins soon – late April or early May. In fact, the 24th Annual Tupelo Honey Festival is held on May 17 on the beautiful banks of Lake Alice in Wewahitchka. Check it out – http://www.visitgulf.com/event… – 24th-annual-tupelo-honey-festival
-Cape San Blas, our white sand peninsula, has amazing westward-facing beaches, so the sunsets are spectacular. In fact, GCFL is known as the #championofsunsets
-Beaches in GCFL are consistently ranked in the top ten US beaches to bring your pets on vacation. The most recent? http://www.petvr.com/index.php…. Leashed pets are welcome on the beach at all times and most rental homes will throw out the red carpet for our furry friends!
I love to travel with my furbaby so I love that!!! In fact, I don't think I've ever gone of vacation with out him. He is truly part of our family and we would never leave him behind. Besides, he's so friendly with everyone he meets and he loves to swim!
#GCFLNOFILTER Contest
Here's an exciting contest you will want to be part of! Gulf County Florida has true natural beauty. We all have forms of true natural beauty! For 30 days, we will celebrate you “unfiltered!” – the real you – people looking beautiful in their “action” selfies.
In honor of this, and because GCFL is the kind of place that lets you do what you love to do and not worry about how you look, starting Thursday, March 13th, GCFL will launch our Spring promotion – #GCFLnofilter through Instagram.
Contest Details:
1. Get outside. Snap a picture while doing what you love. Be real. Be messy. The sweatier the more beautiful.
2. Post your picture to Instagram.
3. Tag it #GCFLnofilter and tell us, @gulfcountyfl, what you’re doing in your shot
4. That’s it. You will be automatically entered to win a free Spring getaway to Gulf County.
I already submitted my Instragram photo for this contest! Check it out here! This is a photo of me and my honey biking on some back round trails in our neighborhood. I would much rather be biking in Gulf County Florida with him though!
What Will Gulf County do?
For 30 days, we will celebrate you “unfiltered!” – the real you – people looking beautiful in their “action” selfies.
We will be posting great shots on our Facebook page and congratulating people for being beautiful, strong, confident, happy, etc.
We will pin pictures of great outdoor passions to our #GCFLnofilter Pinterest board and give recommendations on where everyone might enjoy that passion in GCFL. Our locals and loyal visitors will chime in building suggestions around what makes people feel beautiful. In the end, we will have a board that not only highlights “things to do” but is a living testimony for how they make you feel.
GCFL Means Business:
Being active. Breathing in the fresh air. Getting lost in the moment. Feeling proud.
These things are so important that Gulf County is going to put our money where our mouth is.
For every entry GCFL receives, we will donate $1 to Outdoor Nation – up to a final donation of $5,000! How awesome is that!!! Not only do you have a chance to win an awesome prize but you are helping a wonderful cause too! Let's get our kids unplugged and outside!!!
Outdoor Nation believes in reconnecting the Millennial Generation to the outdoors. Our health, the health of our communities, and the health of our planet depend on it. They believe in the same things as we do.
“We stand for nature and we stand for adventure. We stand for climbing, hiking, surfing, and singing. We stand for dirt under our fingernails and sand between our toes. We believe in the power and passion of the Millennial Generation, and we stand for whatever you stand for. We are artists. We are activists. We are explorers, dreamers, students and teachers. We are Outdoor Nation. And we want to help you change the world.”
Contest Prizes:
Five long-weekend Spring getaways to Gulf County will be given out at random. GCFL will draw a new winner every week and one extra upon conclusion of the sweepstakes. We will provide great lodging in some unique places along the Gulf, St. Joseph Bay or in the cute small town of Port St. Joe. Perfect spots to enjoy your favorite outdoor activity. Each prize package will also include $200 to help with travel expenses and $150 towards your passion of choice. Feel free to spend it on an excursion once you get to Gulf County or to treat yourself to something at home. All to celebrate the outdoors and the real you!
